"He must increase, but I must decrease." -John 3:30 As I studied John this year, this verse seemed to jump off the page to me. John the Baptist had an opportunity to take some credit for himself. His friends came to him and told him that this man that John baptized was now baptizing others and that many were coming to the other man (gasp)! Good news: it was Jesus, and this was exactly how it should be! Of course John does such a good job explaining this. "He who comes from ab
Last weekend I had the privilege of hearing speaker after speaker share about the work God is doing through Bible translation around the world. I was wrecked, and felt heartbroken for the 1778 people groups (about 180 million people) that do not have 1 single verse of Scripture in their heart language. Our goal is to get that number down to 0, so that every single people group will have God’s Word in their heart language. I was honored and humbled to share a prayer for these
I'd like to share a little with you about the creation of these shirts.
I've had a lot of people make comments that they don't feel joyful in the mornings. I had never really thought about that. I will be the first person to admit that I am NOT a morning person, and I am much more friendly after at least one cup of coffee.
That's not what this shirt is about though.
It's about Joy; Deep, abiding JOY, which is much more than an emotion.
It's a fruit of the Spirit.
A few months ago my screen printer approached me about doing a special fundraising project with a new design. Of course I was really excited, and I began thinking about verses to use for the design. We have been listening to Bethel Music a lot lately, and I am really loving their song, "No Longer Slaves." Here's my favorite line: "Im no longer a slave to fear, for I am a child of God." I started roughly sketching ideas with the verse, "Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there i
Anchor Leg That’s where we are, friends. We are in the last leg of Bible translation, which means that our generation has the incredible opportunity of seeing God’s Word translated for every nation, every tribe, every language. Let me back up a little and explain. Ty and I recently spent a weekend in the beautiful mountains in Utah, absorbing so much information at the forWORD Seed Company Event. For me, it’s hard not to feel close to God when you are surrounded by His breath
I’m just getting back from a week of renewal. A week of resting, and being filled. We were so blessed to be able to spend some time in a beautiful place, right on the Florida River in Colorado. I would wake up to the brisk air coming in our open windows, and snuggle deeper under the covers as long as possible. Yes, Colorado nights are cold in August! I took my coffee outside and sat on our porch. The roar of the river was loud, but very soothing. I took out my Bible and journ
I arrived 10 minutes early and promptly took Mack to the bathroom. I thought, “Ok, now we should be good.” We all know that’s not how it works with kids! Exactly at the same time as Mark, one of the VPs of The Seed Company pulled up to the church, Mack declared, “I have to go again!” I waved to Mark and we ran to the bathroom. When we got back outside, Mark seemed confused as to why I had abandoned him. I tried to apologize as delicately as possible. “I’m sorry we had to run

I wore zebra socks to the ER.
That’s true, and you might be wondering why I did such a thing. I remember getting ready to go in, and I saw those zebra socks. I grabbed them and put them on as a reminder that this bad thing could not steal my joy. So there I was, broken, alone, and hurting in the harsh emergency room with my loud zebra socks.
You see, wearing silly socks has been a way to remind me to have joy. They brighten my difficult days, and when I see them, I remembe
Recap from the last post: I had my verse, my big plans, and lots of desire. If you missed that post, click here to read it. Then something happened. I got pregnant. This was pretty monumental for me, having health issues and a very active four year old boy. I wanted our baby so bad though. The major issue was that I was so very sick. Morning sickness all day plus zero energy. My big plans came to a major halt/crawl. I still kept working on the shirts, but at a much slower pac
Have you ever had a big dream? Ever been thinking about doing something for a long time before really diving in? Ever had a vision that kept you awake at night with ideas and excitement? Ever felt the gentle whisper of God encouraging you to make your dream a reality? That is exactly how I felt, and how Heart Work Tees originated. I had a dream that I could make silly shirts to encourage women when they feel like they cannot possible fold one more sock or scrub one more peanu
